APF 2008 is staging the UK Fencing Championships for the first time. A maximum of 15 two man teams will compete for the UK title. Hand tools only are permitted. Entries are taken on a first come first served basis. Details, rules and entry forms can be found on the following links:

RULES

1.
VENUE - The APF Show, Cannock Chase. Over 21's on Thursday 18th September and under 21's on Friday 19th September .  Demonstrations to be held on Saturday 20th September.

2.
ELIGIBILITY - A team shall consist of two persons.
Competitors are required to produce their own tools on the day of the competition. Teams must be present at 10am for registration. Registration to take place at the Fencing News Village.

3.
HEALTH & SAFETY - All competitors must comply with current Health and Safety Legislation and meet the relevant safety standards and operate in such a manner as not to endanger any fellow competitors or members of the public.
All competitors
MUST sign risk assessment before competing. 

4.
Challenge
a) The challenge is to erect approx 50m of McVeigh Parkers NEW X12-110-7.5
Equi-  fence c/w with a top half round rail, bottom high tensile line wire, plus installing McVeigh Parkers very own unique Two way self-closing Snowdropsteel footpath gate, finishing off with one bay of 4 rail post and rail. The 'Equi- Fence' horse netting will need to show one complete join approximately mid-way using appropriate joints. The line of the fence should follow the line of pre-set pegs, taking a natural curve or slight angles, however the competitors see fit.

b) Only the materials supplied by the organisers to be used.
c) Hand tools only will be allowed and the teams themselves must provide these.  No powered tools or chain saws are allowed.
d) End posts to be dug in and backfilled with the original soil. End straining format is at the discretion of the competitors.
e) Competitors are not allowed to shorten any of the posts.
f) No water is allowed.
g) The Judge reserves the right to inspect any strut following completion of the task.
h) The Judge's decision will be final.

TIMING - 4½ hours will be allowed. Start 11am finishes 15.30

7.
  AWARDS - Fencing & Landscaping News and the sponsors will present the awards at 4.30pm on 18th September and 19th September. The trophy and prize money will be awarded to the Winner and the 2nd and 3rd runners up

Clearing the ground - teams are required to clear away all debris and any
off-cuts of wire etc. Off cuts should
not be put down the postholes.

One section should consist of approx:

3kg Barbed 40mm staples
1 x 1.2m Two way opening Self closing Snowdrop gate
1 x 100m coil 2.5mm High tensile wire
5kg 125mm galv'd round wire nails
Timber
2 x 2.4m x 150/175mm strainers pointed
21 x 2.1 x 100/125mm dia full round posts
3 x 2.4m x 75/100mm full round struts
15 x 3.66m x 100/125mm Cundy half round rails

  Expected layout - the choice of line will be left to the individual teams.
