Day 1 - Thursday 18th

Opening Ceremony
Location: Arena 1


Event:   James Paice MP, Shadow Minister for the Environment will formally open the Exhibition by cutting a log  with the latest Komatsu Harvester

Timing: 10.00am

Lumberjack  Sports
Location: Arena 1

Event:  Handicap Races

Discipline: Standing Block
                 Underhand Chop

Timing: 10am  Heat 1 and Heat 2 (standing block and underhand chop,
to run consecutively)
12 noon Heat 3 and Heat 4 (standing block and underhand chop,
to run consecutively)
  2pm  Demonstration
  3pm  Final - top four axemen (winner of each heat)
  4pm  Demonstration

Poleclimbing
Location: Arena 2 - Sponsored by Husqvarna

Event:  Practise and competition through the day.  Daily prizes will be
awarded in both novice and open classes.  Competitors may be able to enter on the day. Enter at the arena

Timing: All day.

Chainsaw Carving Competition - sponsored by Echo
Location: Point 800 on the Demo Circuit

Timing: 9.00am  Start of 3 day carving competition for 25 carvers
           11.00am 30 min speed carve
            3.00 pm 30 min speed carve

UK Fencing Championships - sponsored by Fencing News, Kanga & McVeigh Parker
Location: Fencing Arena

Event:  The Over 21's UK Championships
Competitors to register in Fencing Village tent E2

Timing: 11.00am Start of over 21's UK Championship.
Competitors have 41/2 hours to complete the

              4.30pm Prize giving

UK Forwarder Driving Championships - sponsored by Komatsu
Location: 2250-2300 on Demo circuit

Event:  Day 1 of UK Championships

Competitors can enter free on the day and register at competition area or at Komatsu stand on Demo circuit 500-550

Timing: 9.00am  Competition running throughout all three days with daily prizes as well as overall winner.

Seminars.  All seminars are free and open to all visitors subject to space.
Location: Seminar Tent

Timing: 10.00am

Subject: The latest research on sustainable & biodegradable materials for the  next generation of tree shelters .   Presented by Tubex

What's Hot in Forest Research.  Presented by the Forestry Commission.

Mountain Biking
Location: 1000-1050 on the demo circuit

Event: Displays of extreme mountain biking and how forests can be used for recreational uses.  Free have-a-go course for visitors

Timing: 10am, 12 noon, 2pm, 4pm
Have-a-go course open from 9am -6pm

Woodland Crafts Area
Location: Woodland Crafts area on Static Display area

Events: Displays of Hurdle making, cleft oak gates, willow weaving, Oak trugs, Sussex Trugs, clog making, charcoal burning, traditional Windsor chair carving, besom brooms, pole lathe turning, dug out canoe making.

Visitors will be able to talk to the craftsmen and try their hand at many of the crafts

Timing: Ongoing throughout the day.

Horse Logging
Location: 2600-2650 on the Demo Circuit

Events: Demonstration of the modern use of horses for timber extraction

Timings: Ongoing throughout the day

Vintage Machinery & Steam Area
Location: Vintage & Steam Area on Static Display area

Events: Demonstration of steam driven rack sawbench, timber loading and display of vintage timber extraction vehicles.
